Event Information

Description

Need a swim test for Canoeing Fall Colors or the Sylvania Canoe/Backpack trip? This is for you!

Where: Meet on the pool deck at the UW-Natatorium (2000 Observatory Dr.) at 11am. You will need a student ID to enter the facility. There is no cost.

What to Wear: Please come already wearing appropriate swim wear such as your swim suit or other clothing that can get wet. The pool opens at 11am, so try to be ready promptly so we can get a lap lane before they start filling up. Also, bring a towel and dry change of clothes for afterwards.

Why the Standard Swim Test: To participate in the vast majority of Hoofers Outing Club paddling trips, you must first complete the standard swim test. This is a basic test of your skill, stamina, and ability to maintain composure in the water. (For this test, you will not be wearing a life jacket.)

How Far/Long Will I Swim: In the standard swim test, you must "swim 100 yards and tread water for 5 minutes".

I will probably test 2 people at a time. Once you are done with your test, you are free to leave.

If you need a swim test, and this time/date doesn't work for you, feel free to reach out to me (Jacobng6@gmail.com) and we might be able to work something out.
