Event Information

Description

As George Washington once crossed the Delaware River, I will be crossing Lake Mendota this coming Saturday and I would like you to come with! We will be walking on the ice from Memorial Union all the way to the other side of the lake. I've always wanted to do this, so I am excited to try it out! I'm estimating it will be about 7-8 miles round trip, which will take around 3 hours depending on our pace. We might even catch the sunset while on our way back!

Dress warm and bring clothes that can block wind! It gets much windier once we are in the middle of the lake, so be prepared for it to be cold. Even though we will be moving the whole time, still dress as warm as you can with multiple layers. Temperatures on Saturday are predicted to range from around 7 degrees farenheit to 19 degrees. Add the wind onto that and you'll want to be prepared. Personally, I will also be bringing a face gaiter to reduce the effects of the wind and the cold. Hat and gloves are absolutes!

Bring enough water to drink and a snack if you'd like. Sunglasses and sunscreen could be useful too. I might pack a speaker too so we can jam while we're walking.

We will meet in the Mendota Lounge (where Outing Club meetings are). I hope to conquer the lake with you this Saturday!
