Sylvania Wilderness Canoeing

Sylvania Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in the UP (Upper Peninsula of Michigan).  We will be canoeing, portaging, and enjoying peak fall colors throughout the area.  We will leave from Memorial Union on Friday afternoon and return to Memorial Union on Sunday afternoon / evening. 

There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting next Tuesday at 6 PM. Please ensure that you are able to attend this meeting.

Who:

Any active members in the club who have achieved their canoe rating and have their swim test. The weather for this trip is expected to be cold and we will be on the water with the likelihood of getting wet so previous canoe camping or camping experience is strongly recommended. If you are not sure, please contact me directly.

Cost:

The anticipated cost of this trip is $50 to cover the cost of camping and gas. Group meals will not be provided on this trip, but a recommended food packing list will be provided at the pre-trip meeting.

Bring money for food on the road for Friday and Sunday.

Shortly after you sign up, we will send out an email with important gear lists, and a form to collect more information from you.

Hoofers can provide you with all the essential gear to get you out there.
