Superior Hiking Trail Backpacking

This trip will open for signup Monday 9/20 at 7 pm.

This is normal backpacking BP2 trip, with spots for 10 participants (2 of those are Leaders-in-Training). The goal is to get everyone their BP2 or BP2+ rating so that y'all can go on longer backpacking trips in the future.

The 310-mile Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) is one of the premiere destinations for backpacking in the midwest! We'll be traversing about 13 miles of trail, centered around the scenic Lutsen Mountains. The section from Oberg Mountain to Caribou Lake features lakes, streams, a waterfall, valleys, and bountiful overlooks of Lake Superior and the Sawtooth Range.

New to backpacking? Hoofers can provide all the essential gear (backpack, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag) to get you on the trail.

*We are having a pre-trip meeting Wednesday 9/22 at 7 pm at the Memorial Union. We will be going over some important trip details. If you cannot make it to this meeting, I am sorry but you will not be able to come on this trip. There will be more backpacking trips in October.
