Description

ACA Essentials of Canoeing Leadership/Instructor Development  - May 26-29, 2020

Please email me directly if you would like to participate. Please plan ahead to participate. Space is limited, so please plan ahead.

Ratings: R1/R2 canoe rating and Standard Swim Test and demonstrated interest in leading and teaching others. If you have prior canoeing experience but don't yet have these ratings, please email me directly.

The American Canoe Association (ACA) is the industry standard for paddle sports in North America and is a recognized standard worldwide.

Why: ACA training/certification in paddling, teaching, safety, and leadership skills is essential and highly valued for those who intend to work and/or play in the outdoors. 

Here is your opportunity close to home.

The expectation is that you will develop and grow your skills throughout the four days of canoe instructionWith a lot of opportunities for mentored hands-on skills development and practice.

When: May 26-29, 2020 (four full days of canoeing and instruction)

Who: Ivan Bartha, ACA Canoeing Instructor Trainer

Where: Specific Lake and River venues will be selected based on water levels and prevailing weather.

ACA Cost: The ACA instruction fee to Ivan Bartha for Hoofers Members is $300 per person. There are limited club funds available to help offset the fee depending on how many join us.

Other Incidental Costs: Meals, transportation, camping, and gear will be coordinated within the group. $25 American Canoe Association Membership Required, and $35 ACA SEIC Fee Required for those seeking to become ACA certified instructors.

Boats/Gear: All available through the Hoofers Outing Club at no additional cost.

What: ACA Essentials of Canoeing Instructor Development Workshop and Skills Clinic.

Goals (Learn & Earn):
1. Learn/refine paddling, safety, teaching, and leadership skills.
2. Prepare to earn ACA Instructor Certification.(in the future if you wish)

Note: There will also likely be one or two opportunities in May 2020 to canoe to help prepare and refresh skills on the river.and lake. The upcoming pool sessions are excellent opportunities to complete the standard swim test and to prepare for the upcoming season.
