This lesson is the first step towards enjoying the many flatwater and whitewater canoeing trip that Outing sends out!
Please meet outside of Outdoor UW by the Outing Club Hoofer Sign at 5:00 pm. Please arrive wearing something that can get wet (swimsuit works great) and a change of shoes if so desired.
We will go over the following:
- Boathouse and Lake Mendota procedures and rules
- Types and parts of canoes
- Basic paddling strokes and techniques
- Successfully completing this lesson will earn you the canoe lake rating.
With the canoe lake rating (and swim test) you may participate in flatwater canoe trips and introductory moving water (R1) trips with the club.
Feel free to send Otto or I an email if you have any questions!
