Come explore the amazing Sylvania Wilderness in Michigan's Upper Peninsula! This trip offers the opportunity for perfect fall colors camping, wildlife viewing, and eating great food. A canoe lake lesson and a swim test are required for this trip. If you do not have these ratings but would like to come on the trip, please email me at ehudson4@wisc.edu and I will do my best to get you the rating before the trip. The trip deposit will be $75.00, this covers food, equipment, gas, and the truck rental to tow the boats.
Day 1 - Meet at Memorial Union at 12:00. Drive 4 hr 15 min to Sylvania Wilderness. Launch onto Clark Lake. Paddle .5 miles to Ash campsite.
Day 2 - Paddle 2 miles on Clark Lake to portage trail. Portage 112 rods (1 rod=16.5 ft) to Crooked Lake. Paddle 2.5 miles to Porcupine campsite on Crooked Lake.
Day 3 - Wake up at 7, leave camp by 9. Paddle .5 miles to Crooked Lake boat launch. Drive back to madison, arrive at approx. 2:30.
