Event Information

Description

Get excited for the first weekend mountain biking trip of the Fall 2018 season!

Copper Harbor is home to one of the best MTB trail systems in the world! It also has a super awesome shuttle service with discounts for college students that takes away one of the cruddiest parts of mountain biking: climbing. In addition to being an awesome trail system, it has some absolutely stunning views of Lake Superior and one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Midwest.

Trip Plan:

  • Friday Evening

    • Leave Madison at 6 and spend the night in Copper Harbor.

  • Saturday

    • Shuttles run from 12-5:30, and we will be on them.

  • Sunday

    • Shuttles run from 12-5:30. Alternatively, we could ride the point trail which leads all the way out to the tip of the Keweenaw peninsula and has some amazing views. There is flexibility depending on the desires of those attending, so a final decision will be made after a group is decided.

    • Drive home! Arrival time in <adison will be dependant on what we decide to do Sunday.

Trip Requirements:

  • The trails at Copper Harbor are almost exclusively blue square (intermediate). Because of this, participants should possess a skill in mountain biking that allows them to ride blue trails comfortably without walking.

Trip Costs:

  • Gas will be $15-20 per person. Final cost will depend on the mileage of the cars used.

  • Shuttle Passes are $18 per day. Whether or not we ride shuttles Sunday will determine whether this will cost $18 or $36

  • Group food costs will be about $15 per person. This will include three meals on Saturday and 1-2 meals on Sunday.

  • Participants should bring enough money to cover snacks/food for the Friday and Sunday night drives as well as for on the trail.

  • Total deposit to be determined, but expect the total trip cost to be around $60.

Note: Trip will be waitlist only due to the pending implemention of a MTB rating system. In addition, strong preference will be given to participants with vehicles as that will allow us to bring more people! Also, as a general rule those that participate in trail workdays and help fix bikes will also be given preference as a show of appreciation for their support.

As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions,

-Chase
