Event Information

Description

Standard Swim Test - Be Ready to Swim Promptly at 9:00 AM at the Nat pool. This is happening immediately prior to the Hoofer whitewater kayaking lessons where you can learn to roll or get your lake rating.

IMPORTANT: This event sign-up is for people looking to just take the standard swim test, and not participate in the ww kayak lessons to follow. If you want to take the swim test AND participate in the kayak pool session, please register for the kayak event here: https://events.hooferouting.org/event/63847. You will be asked in the questionnaire if you need to take the swim test, so you do not need to also sign-up for the swim test here.

What to Wear: appropriate swim wear such as your swim suit or other clothing that can get wet (no cotton). Also, bring a towel and dry change of clothes for afterwards.

Why the Standard Swim Test: To participate in the vast majority of Hoofers Outing Club paddling trips, you must first complete the standard swim test. This is a basic test of your skill, stamina, and ability to maintain composure in the water. (For this test, you will not be wearing a life jacket.)

How Far/Long Will I Swim: In the standard swim test, you must "swim 100 yards and tread water for 5 minutes".

Courtesy Note: If you can't be on time or are uncertain, please don't sign up. There will be other opportunities to take the standard swim test in the future. We will not wait for you because the kayak lessons need to get underway in the pool.

Thank you!
