Event Information

Description
Want to get into kayaking with the club? This is the place to start! This kayak lake lesson is REQUIRED for all members who want to get into whitewater or sea kayaking. We'll spend about an hour going over the basics of boats and club rules, and then another hour on the lake practicing basic boat control and rescues. After this lesson you will be eligible to attend introductory whitewater trips (also known as R1 trips), or take the introductory sea kayaking lesson (also known as the SK0 lesson). I will try my best to offer a swim test after this lesson, which will involve swimming around the keelboat pier.

You will need to bring the following:
Clothes and shoes that will get wet.
-Please avoid wearing cotton if at all possible.
-Some sort of shoe or sandal is REQUIRED for the lake lesson - the lakebed is full of pointy things and some glass.

A dry change of clothes and a towel is also a good idea, as you will be going upside-down and getting wet at multiple points in the lesson.

This lesson is capped at a max of 8 participants.

Finally, a note on attendance. Lake lessons are in high demand right now. If you sign up, and find you are unable to attend, please remove yourself from the class ASAP so that another member can attend. Failure to attend lessons you are signed up for, or dropping lessons within 24 hours of the start time without notifying your instructor will result in a warning. Repeated drops or missed lessons may result in suspension of your lesson privileges.
