We will be leading a beginner-friendly mountain biking trip to Quarry Park. No prior rating or experience is required. Even if you have already participated in a ride with the club, you are always welcome :). We'll be leaving from the Boathouse at Memorial Union, riding to Quarry Park (about 20 minutes away), doing some laps, and then biking back to the union.
We will be providing instruction for new riders. You just need to come with the skills and fitness needed to ride a bike on pavement for ~10 miles total (with stops) and the desire to try riding a bike on something that looks like a hiking trail.
Hoofers has mountain bikes and helmets that you can borrow if you do not have your own.
Local trips like this are required to build your experience to participate in overnight trips later in the year!
What to wear:
Closed-toed shoes are required. If you have vans those tend to be good, otherwise any other athletic tennis shoes will do. Wear athletic clothing that you are comfortable biking in and that suits the weather. If you have your own helmet, that would be good to have as well.
You should also bring some water (either in a bottle or a camelback) and snacks for yourself.
Meet at the boathouse (next to Mendota lodge --- where the club holds meetings) at the time indicated in the description.
Message me if you'll be bringing your own bike, if you have any questions, or would like to lead a trip like this in the future!
