This trip is to a damn release in Prarie Du Sac. You need a lake lesson and swim test. This is an opportunity to earn your R1.
Sac is a "play" spot, which just means it is a lot of waves in about 0.1 mile. We park, paddle up, practice skills, and re-paddle back up. It is different from badfish in that there is no scenic down river paddle, just a chance to practice skills.
Great skills to practice here are ferrying, eddy turns, and eskimo rescues. The water is pushy and big, so it takes more skilled edging and really helps you improve that skill.
You need to bring a towel, swim suit, water bottle, water shoes or strap on sandals.
Meet at the boathouse at 4:30 pm. Cost is $5, and bring money for dinner possibly.
