Event Information

Description
A mix of current and former Hoofers are running the Colorado River at the end of April.  Most of the 14 spaces on this trip are already spoken for, however, there are potentially three remaining slots. This trip requires a canoe lake lesson and swimtest. We're going old school - no kayaks allowed.

You'll be paddling a lazy 51 miles over 5 days from Moab, UT to the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers. The plan is to leave plenty of time for hiking up into the side canyons from our sandbar campsites along the way.  There's also a ton of Indian ruins to find and rumors of a hidden waterfall.

Return shuttle is by jet boat.  This trip ends in the middle of Canyonlands National Park where there are no roads.  The shuttle runs once a day and can pick us up anywhere so we don't have to worry about sticking to a schedule if the wind picks up. Back out on Friday.

If you've never used a wag bag, this will be your time to shine. This is leave no trace to the extreme.

Total cost for the entire canoe portion of the trip will be about $250/person (rentals, shuttle, food, permits) plus whatever it costs you to get to Moab (~$75 in gas from Madison)

Can't make a full week in April? Don't worry, more canoe camping trips to come this summer.
