Event Information

Description

Weather and water levels permitting, Carl Zimm & I will lead an introductory/instructional whitewater kayaking (& canoeing) trip to the Baraboo River ( http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/2887/ ) on Sunday (8/26/18).

To participate, you need to have earned a Kayak or Canoe Lake Rating and to have passed the required Swim Test. Successful completion of peal-outs and ferries on this trip will earn you an R1 rating. Please signup online so that I have a head count, and indicate whether or not you are willing to use your personal vehicle to carpool or haul boats. We will meet by the Memorial Union (Park St. Circle) at 1:00 PM to gather Club gear (boat, paddle, PFD, spray skirt, helmet, flotation, wetsuit, splash jacket) and load cars. Bring $7 to pay your driver if ride sharing, and enough money for dinner if we should decide to stop at Culvers afterward.

Bring clothing (swim suit & non-cotton shirt) & foot wear to wear on the river that you should expect to get wet.  Bring a water bottle, snacks & dry bag, if you have one.  Nose plugs are recommended.  Also bring a towel & dry clothing to change into afterwards.
