Event Information

Description

This event requires that you have completed a lake lesson and a standard swim test. After the lake lesson, this is an introduction to paddling canoes or kayaks on moving water. This is beginner-friendly, and we will teach the basics of moving water maneuvers: eddy turns, peel-outs, and ferries.

We are going to the Yorkville Whitewater Park:  https://www.yorkville.il.us/Facilities/Facility/Details/Marge-Cline-Whitewater-Course-37

It is just over 2 hours drive. We will meet at 1:00pm at Park Street Circle to gather gear, then drive down to Yorkville.  EDIT: we have made alternative meeting plans. Contact Caroline ASAP if you want to join at this point.

We will probably get dinner on the way home!

Remember to bring:

  • shoes that will not fall off when swimming
  • glasses strap if you need one

You will need from Hoofers the six essentials:

  • Boat
  • Paddle
  • PFD
  • Sprayskirt
  • Helmet
  • Floatation

Please let me know if you can drive!
