Event Information

Description

Lets do an evening canoe lake lesson!!  This far out the forcast looks good that evening.  I will update as it gets closer to those that participate.

This lesson along with the swim test is what you will need to take Hoofer boats on quiet water Outing club canoe trips and to take boats out on Lake Mendota.  The swim test is not needed to take this lesson.  A swim test will not be a part of this lesson so keep you eye out for when a swim test will be offered.

This canoe lesson, distinct from the kayak lake lesson, will teach you basic canoe strokes and how to work as a team to make a tandem canoe go where you want it to go.  We will also talk about the ins and outs of how to check out a boat, the rating system, steam whistle, flag and flag chart, plus more.  We normally don't capsize or practice rescues in the this lesson but wear shoes that won't come off and can get wet and wear clothes that can get wet in case of splashing.  Bring 25 cents to stash your belongings in the lockers at Memorial union to keep them safe during the lesson.

If you have to remove yourself from this lesson remove your name as soon as you can so others can sign up.  Meet me at the waterfront in front of the boathouse ( you will see a large garage door with boats and kayaks inside) promplty at 6 pm.

See you soon.

Joyce
