Event Information

Description

This canoe lake lesson is separate from the kayak lake lesson and is the lesson you will need to go on hoofer outing club quiet water canoe trips and to take canoes out on Lake Mendota.  This lesson will teach you how to work as a team in a tandem canoe to make the canoe go where you want it to go.  We normally do not capsize or practice rescues in this lesson but your feet will probable get wet so wear shoes that stay on and can get wet.  Also wear clothes that can get wet in case you get splashed.  Bring $0.25 for the lockers at Memorial Union to stash your belongings in during the lesson.  We can stash your things when I show you around the boathouse and the Outdoor rentals office.

The Swim test is not required to take this lesson but the swim test will be needed to take boats out on the lake and to participate in hoofers trips so keep an eye out for when a swim test will be offered.  It will not be part of this lesson.

Meet me at the waterfront at the entrance to the boathouse.  You will see a large open door with boats and kayaks in the background.  If you have to cancel take your name off the list as soon as you know so that others can sign up for this lesson.
