Event Information

Description

It's super hot out and Lake Mendota is open for paddling! So let's go paddlle to Picnic Point after the weekly meeting! We will paddle to the north beach on Picnic Point (fire pit # 3), have a campfire and then head back about 9:30 pm.

We will only go out in green flag conditions. To go on this trip you will need your lake rating in open canoe (and seakayakers will need an SK0) and a swim test.

If you want to go to Picnic Point and don't have a boating rating, just walk/bike/bus out there and meet us (fire pit # 3).

If you can, please bring a flashlight and a headlamp. It will still be light out when we paddle out to Picnic Point, but it'll be dark by the time we go back. The lights are to make us visible to other boaters in the dark and be able to keep together as a group. Also bring a dry bag or something that you can put extra clothing and goodies into that will keep them dry in case  they get wet. It will be easy to find our way back in the dark - just follow the music and look for the lit-up capital building! You are encouraged to bring snacks to share. Remember that Picnic Point does not allow glass or alcohol.
