The Fools' Flotilla is a great Madison tradition: a costume party on the Yahara River! Costumes are encouraged, though not required. Basically, hundreds of paddle boats follow a pontoon boat down the Yahara River between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. The boat has a live band playing music. Most people dress up in goofy outfits and often decorate their boats. Plus people line up along the shoreline and on the overhead bridges to watch the parade of boats in which you can be part of. The trip ends at the Waterfront Festival which is held over the weekend at the Yahara Place Park. We will most likely paddle both kayaks and canoes.
We will meet at the Memorial Union boathouse at 9:00 am, and we'll paddle over to the beginning of the event near the Tenney Park locks. The float will begin around 10:00 and we will return around 1pm or so.
I am looking for a co-leader (email me, quietwater leaders!) Thank you Robert
