Event Information

Description

Standard Swim Test - Be Ready to Swim Promptly at 5:15pm

Courtesy Note: If you can't be on time or are uncertain, please don't sign up. There will be other opportunities to take the standard swim test in the future. If you do sign up, please make sure to show up at the Hoofer boathouse already dressed in swim wear ready to go at 5:15pm.

What: Weather permitting, I will administer the standard swim test on Wednesday starting promptly at 5:15pm.

What to Wear: Promptly at 5:00pm, please show up at the Memorial Union boathouse entrance already wearing appropriate swim wear such as your swim suit or other clothing that can get wet (no cotton) and appropriate shoes that can get wet (no bare feet and no flip flops) to protect your feet from sharp objects in the lake bed. Also, bring a towel and dry change of clothes for afterwards.

Why the Standard Swim Test: To participate in the vast majority of Hoofers Outing Club paddling trips, you must first complete the standard swim test. This is a basic test of your skill, stamina, and ability to maintain composure in the water. (For this test, you will not be wearing a life jacket.)

How Far/Long Will I Swim: In the standard swim test, you must "swim 100 yards and tread water for 5 minutes".

If other leaders can help, please email me. This may enable more to participate.

Thank you!
