Event Information

Description

Sign ups have been closed as the trip is a few days away we've started organizing all the details. If you didn't get a chance to sign up and still want to, you can email mountaineering@hoofers.org.

Per the HMC-HOC agreement, all Hoofer Mountaineering trips of Top Rope rating and below will also be open to Outing members! There are 5 spots available for Outing members on this trip, but any remaining spots in the trip may be filled off of the Outing member waitlist. Future trips will have more availability open to Outing members, but as this is Mountaineering's biggest on-boarding event, we must reserve most spots for people who are interested in joining Mountaineering.

Join us for our Welcome Weekend event on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30th. We are going to Devil's Lake to climb and show new climbers the ropes. All skill levels are welcome!

We will have an abundance of ropes set up for participants to climb on. There will club members available to teach belaying and tying in for those who need to learn. Please let the trip leaders know well in advance if you need to borrow gear; shoes are available for rental from the OUW office and the HMC gear locker has most other gear available for use for free.

There are 20 spots available for members who are camping. Dinner will be provided. You must have your own camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad). Packing list and resources to rent camping gear if needed will be sent to participants before the date.

If not camping, ropes will be ready at Devil's Lake at 9am. More location information will be provided closer to the date.

We'll have transportation options available for participants who are camping, depending on demand, for an additional $10 to cover the cost of the rental. There will also be an informal sign up sheet for people who would like to arrange carpooling, but the Club is not providing this transportation and cannot promise its availability. For people who aren't camping, there will be transportations options available at a later date.

Cost is $10 regardless of if camping or not in order to cover leader expenses.

Can't wait to climb with everyone!
