Event Information

Description

I have an afternoon free and would like to teach a canoe lake lesson.    With the canoe lake lesson you will be able to take a canoe out on lake Mendota and go on quiet water trips with the club.  You will also need the swim test to go on hoofers trips which is not being offered in this lesson but watch the event calendar for swim tests being posted.  Sunday's weather right now is showing a 50% chance of rain/storms so if the people that sign up are able to be a little flexible we can move the lesson forward an hour or back an hour depending on the wind and weather conditions that afternoon.

In this lesson we will learn basic canoe strokes, how to work as a team to make the canoe go straight, tour the boathouse, learn the rules of lake mendota, learn about the clubs paddling rating system, and we will get out on the lake for a little practice.

We don't plan to get wet but just in case wear clothes and shoes that can get wet.  If you would like to bring a change of clothes in the event that you do get wet there are lockers in the hall (part of the tour) where you can store valuables.  The lockers cost a quarter to rent.
