Wausau Whitewater Release August 5, 2017!

I'd like to drive up for the August 5 Wausau recreational release! Wausau is a great training/practice spot for whitewater paddling and to meet other whitewater enthusiasts from the region. Folks bring whitewater kayaks and whitewater canoes. Read the details at the link below.

I will drive up early (departure at 7:00am) on Saturday morning August 5, paddle for a few hours, and then I will head home that same day. (I am UNavailable on Sunday.)

Now that we have other available WW2 leaders, there is the option to paddle all day.

An R3p rating and standard swim test are required. (A few R2 paddlers may be permitted based on experience.) Solid boat control and a reliable roll are important pre-requisites for this course. Participation is at the leaders discretion.

WW2 leaders, please let me know your availability.

If you choose to sign up, please make sure to let me know if you can drive people and/or boats.

Remember, proper whitewater kayaking equipment and attire (no cotton) are required, including a helmet. Leaders will carry rescue gear (e.g., throw ropes). As a club event, we stick together and watch out for each other during the day. Nobody paddles alone.

Bring plenty of cash to pay your driver for gas, and bring money for the course fee and for food.
