Tuesday (7/11) Sea Kayak on Lake Mendota!!!

Tuesday, July 11, 2017 (2:00pm - 6:00 pm)

Description

Weather permitting, I will lead a small group to sea kayak on Lake Mendota on Tuesday (7/11). The goal will be distance (our route depends on the weather). At a pace of 3-4 miles an hour, paddling for about 4 hours, we should be able to paddle between 12-16 miles. We will break up the paddle for water, snacks, and rescue/rolling practice to cool off.

SK1 and standard swim test required. Given the distance, participation will depend on paddling skill and experience. (If you can join us and need to earn your SK1, please email me. You would need to have earned your SK0 and passed the standard swim test already.)

Please have your boat and gear together at 2:00pm including your footpegs so we can launch right away.

You will bring (required): Lots of water (2-3 liters), Snacks, Sunscreen, appropriate paddling clothes (warm when wet) and closed-toe shoes that can get wet (no cotton), warm dry clothes to change into, towel.

Thank you!
