Event Information

Description
Hey all,

Let's make a day trip to America's Little Switzerland, New Glarus, and check out New Glarus Brewery.

We will leave at 9:30am from the Memorial Union, and should return around 5:00pm. The route predominantly utilizes the Badger State Trail and is approximately 55 miles, round-trip. We'll mostly be dealing with flat paved and gravel trails, but there are hills approaching New Glarus.

Once we are in New Glarus, we can first have lunch at a restaurant in town (or outside at the brewery if you prefer to pack food). Next, we can provide ourselves with a self-guided tour through the brewery, and then finally relax and enjoy some fine New Glarus beer(s) directly from the source on the super cool brewery grounds.

Make sure to bring a helmet, plenty of water, a bike lock, an extra tube if possible, a photo ID if you plan to have any beer, sunglasses, and sunblock. Padded bicycle shorts are recommended. Bring money for lunch or, alternatively, you can bring snacks and food for the day with you. You will also need a state trail pass that you can pick up along the way of the bike trails. The cost of the pass is $4/day (or $20 for a year pass).

If you need a bike please indicate so in the event sign-up, or message me directly. Additionally, please let me know if you prefer bringing food or going to a restaurant for lunch. I imagine the vote will be for the latter, but I'd like to get an idea of the group's interests in this matter in advance.

Obviously, this trip will be weather dependent, so keep that in mind.

Cheers!
