Event Information

Description
Either Tadhg or I will be teaching a special lake lesson on Tuesday. The special part of this is that the Wis Public TV show Outdoor Wisconsin will be filming various Hoofers in action (sailing, paddling, instructing, etc.) in addition to interviewing some leaders and members.

So in addition to completing your kayak lake lesson in the sun and warmth of midday, you also could be a TV star!

Seriously, we need some members to take advantage of this opportunity to show Wisconsin and the world how cool the Outing Club is (along with other Hoofer clubs, naturally).

If it turns out that we don't get enough participants for a lake lesson (4-6 would be ideal), we could make this a lesson for more experienced paddlers---a rolling, playboating or skills improvement session.

In fact, we do need a few additional experienced paddlers on hand to demonstrate paddling the different kinds of boats we use---canoes, sea kayaks and whitewater kayaks. If you're interested in being a demo paddler, please send me an email and I'll keep track of that separately.

For the lesson you'll be getting wet so dress accordingly---with a change of clothes after the lesson. Footwear is required--water shoes or low-profile sneakers are best. A noseplug would be handy if you don't enjoy inhaling Lake Mendota water. The best kind of made for paddling (available from Rutabaga) but regular swimming ones will do, too.

Please arrive on time (11:45!) as the filming crew has just a short time scheduled to do their work. We have to be ready when they are.

This should be a lot of fun. So if you've been waiting for your big break into show business, this could be your chance! Or not......hard to look your best wearing a sprayskirt, noseplugs, and PFD (at least some people don't find that a good look).

Contact me for questions---and again, if you're interested in being a demo paddler.
