Event Information

Description
Tuesday's forecast is for more nice weather, and Lake Mendota has clear, refreshing water to play in! Do you have at least a lake rating with the club in a canoe or kayak? If yes, read on......

Come to the general Hoofer Outing Club meeting at 7 pm in the union, dressed to paddle, and I will host a paddling practice session for all manner of club watercraft immediately after. We'll paddle until just before 9, then put everything away in the boathouse.

We can review what you learned in lake lessons for canoe or kayaks, practice those skills, and maybe learn some new ones to get you ready for the next step in your rating progression.

Examples........

Question: Are you waiting for the water levels at Sac to drop so that we can have beginner whitewater trips? Answer: Practicing on flatwater will help prepare you, and I will have a couple of drills just for you that will make your first trip to Sac go smoothly.

Question: Did you just take the sea kayaking lessons this weekend, from Jeff and Kris, and learn rescues that you know you should practice? Answer: Now's the time - all it takes is two of you from the classes, and you can practice rescuing each other.

Question: do you know you could be stronger in a canoe with a little practice? Answer: All it takes is two of you who want to practice, and you can tool around the lakefront working on your paddling skills.

Beverages and food can happen afterwards. Bring some with you, or grab something at the union. Reassemble at the Outing Club dock to watch the final rays of Tuesdays sunlight.

Connie

PS To participate, you must have a canoe or kayak lake rating.....that's all.
