If you've ever wanted to spend a week in the wilderness this
is the place to start! We will be canoe camping in the Boundary Waters right
after Memorial Day (leaving May 26th) through June 4th or 7th. This was one of my first and best trips with
the outing club, so I'm also hoping to spread the trip leader bug if you're
interested in learning or teaching!
We will talk more about gear at another meeting, but you will need to have your own shoes, sleeping bag, layers, and rain jacket. In other words, be prepared for weather and bugs! You will also need to be prepared to portage a canoe or packs for half a mile, and paddle up to 15 miles in a day (it is physically demanding, but easier than you think). If you don't have your canoe lake lesson yet, talk to me ASAP so we can make sure you get more paddling time in between now and then.
Cost of the trip is estimated to be around $160 per person so I will be collecting $80 trip deposits before or during the next outing club meeting on Tuesday April 21st.
If you haven't already contacted me about interest in the trip, please do so ASAP as there is limited space. We can almost always use more drivers, so if you have a car available let me know and I can likely open up more spots! - Event Type
