Let’s go paddling with John Browning!
John is a level 4 American Canoe Association instructor
trainer and just a heck of a great guy to paddle with. We have had him to Madison for risk training,
now we’ll go to Milwaukee and put our skills to work on the water with him.
The date will be June 20th, and it will be an
all day event.
We will meet at the boat house to load boats so we can
meet John in Milwaukee at 9:00. We’ll
work with him until about 3:30.
What we’ll do is some land talks about group management,
but then get on the water. We’ll
practice rescues, so you will get wet.
We will do scenarios so we can use our skills to figure out how to
problem solve on the spot. This will be
a very active day on the water!
You’ll need to bring lunch. Something you can take in the boat with you for the day. This will be wet suit required. Be prepared for the weather. Bring a change of clothes for after paddling. Water, lots of water. Sun screen. You’ll need full kayak gear including tow ropes and paddle floats. We will also stop on the way home for food, so bring money for that. Also bring money for fuel for your driver and launch permit. You need to be an SK1 to take this class.
