Event Information

Description
Winds are high and the creek is low, so we are hiking and sort of mtn biking at Cam Rock park instead, Meet 2034 yahara pl at 12:50PM.

Spring has melted the ice off local streams, so we can do boating tour of the old sections of the Madison East side on the protected waters of Starkweather Creek. Canoers will need a canoe lake rating and passed the swim test, and also need water resistant shoes, and should dress for cool weather and wind, and bring extra clothes in case you somehow get wet. Kayakers need a SK0 or R2,and will need to wear a wet suit and paddle jacket to protect against the wind and water. The club has canoes, kayaks, paddles, wet suits and paddle jackets. We will get a view of the 19th century US Sugar Co plant, the golden Thai pavilion, historic bungalows, undeveloped wetland, and maybe some birds and turtles. Meet 12:50PM Sat 2034 yahara pl. Room for two canoes on my car; more if additional drivers. If you have an interest in canoeing  but not the lake rating, we might be able to do a lesson on the creek.
