Event Information

Description
Air down your tires and layer up for some winter biking.  I've put together an out and back route that will be doable on a regular mountain bike.  30 miles round trip.  We'll stop at Riley's for pancakes and also at my place for hot chocolate on the way back.  Most of the ride is on Military Ridge which is normally open to snowmobiles this time of year, but it recently closed due to lack of snow.  What this means for us is a fantastic groomed trail all to ourselves. Here's a break down of the route:

12 miles of clear pavement.
2 miles of snow covered singletrack
1 mile biking on a frozen lake
15 miles of snowmobile trail (Military Ridge)

No mountain biking experience required, but you will need to have good endurance - this is probably equivalent to a 40-50 mile road bike ride.  The club has mountain bikes that can be used for this trip.  Dress warm - you'll need an extra pair of wool socks, winter boots, something to keep your head and neck warm, and ski goggles.  Meet at the union.  Alternatively, if you want to cut the trip in half and avoid the paved sections, you can drive to Quarry Ridge and meet us there.
