Attention Hoofers of all ages--and your families and friends,
We're doing it again---another all-Hoofers reunion at Goodman Park like the ones held in 2001 and 2011. These were so much fun that we've decided to try to do them more often and more regularly--every five years starting this year.

The format and schedule will be much the same as previous reunions. We certainly will have groups doing some whitewater paddling on the Pike and Peshtigo. We also are going to do some new things this year for people who'd prefer some other types of outdoor activities, like flatwater paddling, bicycling and hiking.

The kick-off will happen Wednesday evening, May 6 in Madison with a number of possible activities:
  • Tours of our new boathouse and Outdoor UW spaces
  • Paddling out to Picnic Point and campfire
  • Outdoor and paddling films
  • Union Terrace time
On Thursday we'll head up to Goodman Park, where we've reserved the large group site as our base camp for the extended weekend.

Friday there will be paddling and other activities as people wish. Saturday will be the traditional trip down the Pike River with as many paddlers as are interested. An unofficial count of the 2011 showed at least 60 of us. Saturday night we will have a feast and fest in the shelter. We'll have some kind of main course---maybe some big pots of chili or a burrito bar. The rest of the dinner will be pot-luck; please bring something to share if you can, but don't sweat it if you can't. There will be plenty of food. Sunday there will be more paddling and activities of your choice.

So mark your calendars and plan to be a part of this reunion and all-around good time. We especially need help spreading the word to as many Hoofer alumni as we can reach so please pass along this message to Hoofer friends of yours.

We have both a dedicated website to register and get more information and updates. We also have a page on Facebook.

As before we likely can arrange for the boats and gear you'll need to paddle if you aren't able to bring your own. While we have a full schedule in mind from Wednesday evening through Sunday, join us for whatever time you can arrange.

Let's keep the tradition alive! We want to have strong showings from Hoofers of all eras including current members. Watch for more details. We also will need plenty of volunteers, particularly current members, to help plan and host this Hoofer fest.

So mark your calendars now. You aren't going to want to miss this.
