Event Information

Description
A short hike in the woods just South of Madison on a Ice Age Trail segment off County D near Belleville in the Brooklyn Wildlife Area. Get away from the flatland of Madison and see some open space.  We can take advantage of the absence of leaves to see the wondrous shapes of the land that the glaciers carved ten thousand years ago. We will probably be on the trail for about 2.5 hours and do a in and back fairly easy hike of about 7 km total with some up and down. Should be a cool dry day with moderate wind, so dressing in warm fleece layers and knit hats should work nicely. Trails will probably have some mud, some snow and perhaps some ice, so wear good water resistant boots or shoes with warm when wet socks (eg wool or polyester). Meet at Park St Circle (North terminus of Park St by the Memorial Union), and then we will drive to the parking area at the intersection of Dane County roads D and DD a bit East of Belleville. Note you will be missing the Packer game.
