Event Information

Description
Kayak Pool Sessions are back!! This is your chance to learn how to kayak in the safe environment of a swimming pool and warm up those skills before the summer paddling season. You can learn all the basics kayak strokes, how to wet exit, and learn how to roll in a kayak.

Payment: Signup/Payment Options - $7 per session (to cover the cost of renting the pool)
1.       you can pay online with credit or debit card when you sign up through the Hoofers website (preferred!)
2.       you can call or stop by the OPO and tell them you want to pay for pool session
3.       you can bring cash to the regular Hoofers meeting or just bring cash to the pool session
4.       you can PayPal me at wplaxico@gmail.com

Clothing: bring swimwear, nose plugs and goggles if you have them (handy when you are upside down). Also full toe protection is advisable as this is what you will wear when you going paddling on rivers/lakes, but not mandatory. If you have a rash vest or a wetsuit top these will be helpful to keep you warm as the pool water can be cold.

Logistics: We meet at the Memorial Union inside the OPO office at 12:45pm. We will then organize which boats/gear we are taking and carry them out to the cars. Once we have all the gear and people packed we will drive down to the Natatorium pool. We then take the boats and gear into the Natatorium (but outside the pool). We all change in the changing rooms (please shower before entering the pool) and then bring all the kayaks and gear into the pool and begin the session. After this point the group is split into groups i.e. “Lake Lesson” or “Rolling”. Some of the more experienced members will just practice their skills in the pool as well.

Email Will at wplaxico@gmail.com with any questions or come to the regular Tuesday night 7pm meeting at Mendota Lodge to get additional scoop.
