Event Information

Description

  • Note of 1/20/15: I am opening this up as a hiking trip as there will be no need for snowshoes. Space is limited now  only by available drivers. Meet at UNION SOUTH, at the circle on the southeast corner of the building at 6 pm. Bring $1 (in change or as a $1 bill) for your driver. We'll load up and drive to the marsh.

Note added 1/17/15: Anyone who owns their own snowshoes, or can borrow some, is welcome to come along on this trip. Please send me an e-mail saying you have your own, and we'll get you signed up. (The club has a limited number of snowshoes, which is why I am keeping the list restricted to 7.)

That said, the weather forecast doesn't look like there will be enough snow for this to remain a snowshoe event, in which case it will morph into a hiking trip followed by a pub visit. If that is the case, I will open up the sign up for more participants around Thursday, so if the event interests you, check back on Thursday, January 22nd.

Pray for snow.....

The city of Madison will have a candlelight snowshow event at Cherokee Marsh North (on the north side of Madison) on Saturday, January 24. This is one of my favorite getaway spots in Madison, and it is normally closed at night, so this is a rare chance to visit the marsh after dusk. This is a snowshoe-only event, not XC skiing.......

We'll go snowshoe, then stop at the Ale Asylum for BOOD (beverage and food) before returning to the union. The Ale Asylum is a microbrewery with good food on Madison's north side, basically on our route home.
Cost is $1 for transportation, and your personal bood costs.
Dress for the weather (more on that as we get closer to the event).

If you have snowshoes, please bring them as the club has a limited number of pairs.

We'll need another driver, so please e-mail me if you can drive and tell me how many passengers you can take.

Meet at the Mendota Lounge (where the club meetings are held) to gather snowshoes and poles at 5:45 pm and we'll depart by 6 pm.
