Description
Note added 10/19/14: NO MORE SIGN UPS! The deadline to sign up with the Ice Age trail Alliance has passed, so this trip is closed for sign up. Connie

GEAR LIST added 10/18/14:
Gear List:
SLEEPING BAG! The club does not have these. You must provide your own.
Sleeping pad and Tent. Unless you indicated you will use club gear.
Toiletries, towel and other personal goods. There will be a place to shower.
You do not need anything related to dining. They will provide your meals and everything you need to eat.
Adult beverages. I’ll have a cooler for brew. Your driver can stop along the way and pick up brew, if you want.
Clothing: Dress in layers for working. It may be cool when we get up, but you will warm up as you go through the day. DO NOT WEAR your good outdoor gear - you will damage it. Wear old jeans or khakis, flannel shirts over tee-shirts and an old sweater or jacket. Bring something along in case it rains, althoughwe do not build trail if it rains - mud and trailbuilding is a waste of time and detrimental to the trail. Plan to wear the same clothes both workdays. Have the clothes you wear in the car on the way up as your clothes to wear after working, when you hangout around the fire.   Bring a jacket as people tend to fell cold after a day in the out-of-doors.
Sturdy shoes. You will be happier if you wear boots or leather shoes then running or other lightweight shoes

Water bottles (2). You will drink a lot of water over the course of a day.
Day Pack to carry your stuff.
Headlamp or flashlight.
Hoofers has work gloves that I will hand out. The Ice Age Trail Alliance has all the tools we will need, and they will provide instruction.

Note added 10/15/14:  This event is so close to Madison that we may be able to accomodate people who only want to build trail for one day and return to Madison without camping. Please sign up here on the website and I will send you a link to a Google Doc where you can indicate what times you want to build trail. If I can find a driver to get you there and back at those times, we will make it happen. Connie

The 2014 season finale for Mobile Skills Crew Events to build Ice Age Trail is here in Dane County from Oct 22-26. Hoofers will be building trail and camping from the 24-26.

This is a beginner-friendly trip. All you need to provide is some warm layers of clothing and a sleeping bag. The club has tents, sleeping pads and workgloves for you to use, and the Ice Age Trail Alliance provides everything else you will need, including instruction, food, a place to camp and a fire to sit around at night.

Please sign up here on the website so that I can organize transportation and club gear. I will be sending you a link via e-mail to a Google Doc that helps me plan. If you are willing to drive your car, please e-mail me dircectly, especially if the website listing is full. That way I can open up more slots for partcipants.

You will also need to sign up with the Ice Age Trail Alliance to reserve camping and tasty, hot, plentiful food. The link below will send you to the registration site. Registering is easy - just fill in some info about your self and answer some questions on food preferences.

If you are curious about the Ice Age Trail, please attend the interest group meeting on Tuesday night, Oct 14 in the Mendota Room  at the union. We'll meet at the conclusion of the general club meeting. We can help get people signed up for the trip at that meeting. We'll also practice putting up the tents.
