Anyone want to join me in a weekend dash up to the Boundary Waters? My dad is a professor of environmental studies and is helping out with a soil sampling study in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. They need more people to help collect soil samples.
If you are considering leading a trip to the BWCA, this would be a good quick crash course in what the permitting system, camping procedures, and environment are like in the BWCA. You would have to take Thursday and Friday off, and are in for an 8 hour drive each way.
Basic canoeing experience required. I can help supply you with camping gear, you just need wool socks and good non-cotton clothing.
Please let me ASAP if you are interested in going, and exactly how committed and sure that you can make it.
This might be an official Hoofer trip, pending water safety approval, but it doesn't need to be since we won't need any Hoofer gear. - Event Type
