Event Information

Description
Just joined the Outing Club and looking to start paddling?  Here's the place to start!  We will cover club policies, gear, basic skills, and where you can go next!  You need this introductory lesson in order to go on all sea kayaking and whitewater kayaking trips with the club. We'll finish with a swim test to ensure a basic level of swimming proficiency (read the water safety code on the website for additional information).

We'll be on the water most of the time and will definitely get wet since this
lesson introduces you to the kayak wet exit, kayak rescues, paddle strokes, and rules for taking kayaks out on the lake.  The weather is starting to turn cooler, so be sure to bring dry clothes to change into and fleece or neoprene to wear on the water. Clothes toed shoes are also required. Nose plugs and/or googles are also nice but not required. The club has a limited number of wet suits that are available for use on a first come, first served basis.
