Event Information

Description
Please arrive promptly at 10:30am ready to paddle and pick out your sea kayak and gear for the lesson so we can enjoy most of the time on the water. If you cannot come, please be courteous and leave the slots open for those who intend to participate. Thank you! :-)

SK1 intermediate sea kayak lesson. If you have passed the SK0 lesson and swim test, this is the next lesson for you! The SK1 lesson will teach you proper bracing technique to keep your boat from tipping over, knowledge of your kayaks edges to help you turn, a solid draw stroke to move your boat sideways and a paddle float rescue to help you get into your boat unassisted (for when you dump yourself in the lake and your buddy isn't there to help you back in!). The SK1 rating opens up a lot of the Lake and trips to you for your paddling pleasure so we definitely recommend this. We will keep class size small to focus on each participant. What to bring: Clothes to get wet in - you will swim. Water bottle - you will get thirsty. Snack to carry in the boat - you might get hungry. Change of dry clothes for after class. Sun Screen. Hat. If time permits, we may also get in some paddling to Picnic Point and back to practice the forward stroke.

See you at the boathouse! :-)
