Description

9/17/14: This trip is closed for sign up.

Note added 9/15/14:
If you are signed up for this trip, but have not filled out the Google Doc pertaining to this trip, please do so ASAP. I need the info to plan drivers/passengers/departure times, and to figure out tents/club gear. If you are on the list below, but have not filled out the Google Doc (everyone on the list below has been sent the link to the document) by 9 am Tuesday morning, I will assume you do not need a ride or any club gear.

A reminder to all participants - we will meet in the Sett (Union South) at 7 pm on Tuesday, September 16. I will assign passengers to drivers for the Friday departure. We'll meet at one of the big tables in front of the counter where customers pick up food in the Sett. See everyone then.

GEAR LIST added 9/16/14:
Gear List:
SLEEPING BAG! The club does not have these. You must provide your own.
Sleeping pad and Tent. Unless you indicated you will use club gear.
Toiletries, towel and other personal goods. There will be a place to shower.
Swimming suit. If you plan to swim in the lake.
You do not need anything related to dining. They will provide your meals and everything you need to eat.
Adult beverages. I’ll have a cooler for brew. Your driver can stop along the way and pick up brew, if you want.
Clothing: Dress in layers for working. It may be cool when we get up, but you will warm up as you go through the day. DO NOT WEAR your good outdoor gear - you will damage it. Wear old jeans or khakis, flannel shirts over tee-shirts and an old sweater or jacket. Bring something along in case it rains, althoughwe do not build trail if it rains - mud and trailbuilding is a waste of time and detrimental to the trail. Plan to wear the same clothes both workdays. Have the clothes you wear in the car on the way up as your clothes to wear after working, when you hangout around the fire.   Bring a jacket as people tend to fell cold after a day in the out-of-doors.Sturdy shoes. You will be happier if you wear boots or leather shoes then running or other lightweight shoes
Water bottles (2). You will drink a lot of water over the course of a day.
Day Pack to carry your stuff.
Headlamp or flashlight.
Hoofers has work gloves that I will hand out. The Ice Age Trail Alliance has all the tools we will need, and they will provide instruction.

We'll go up north to the Chippewa River area and participate in a Mobile Skills Crew weekend, building Ice Age Trail.

This time we will be base camped at some summer camp, so we may take a club canoe along to play in the lake after working on the trail.

I will organize Hoofer drivers and passengers and tents, so please sign up here on the website and be on the lookout for e-mail from me with details. Read on - there's more to know!

For free hot food (made from scratch and very tasty), and camping space, you must register with the Ice Age Trail Alliance. They are providing your food and the campground, so they need to know how many people are attending. Registering is easy - it is online and they will ask questions about your food preferences. You must register (my personal rule as your Hoofer leader).

Here is the link to register:

We'll take club tents and and head north after work on Friday. Gas costs and food on the road are your only charge for this trailbuilding weekend.  This is a beginner-friendly trip. The club has tents and sleeping pads, but you must bring your own sleeping bag. More details for those who sign up will by sent by e-mail.
As more drivers sign up, I will open up more slots for participants.
